The Association of Tutorial School Operators (ATSO) has requested JAMB to reschedule or cancel this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Mr. Dotun Shodunke, the association’s National President, branded this year’s UTME as the worst, error-filled, and a disgrace at a press conference held last Friday in Bariga, Lagos.

“Let me state unequivocally that the UTME 2021 is the worst-run UTME in a long time. It is, in fact, a complete farce, which the Association of Tutorial School Operators (ATSO) categorically rejects. Every aspect of the UTME 2021 was characterized by major irregularities, including unwarranted candidate dissatisfaction, extortion, and serious problems.

Shodunke accused the examination board for irregularities in the original results, claiming that candidates had received numerous results, and challenged the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, to re-mark the scripts to prove a point. “I dare you, Sir, to get a consultant and show to Nigerians that you did not fail these children on purpose with your spokesperson. Get a consultant since I’m sure I’ll be there. Obtain at least 20 pupils, as well as their scripts. At the very least, you’ll have the record on your server, and you can have a third party comment on it. The questions and solutions are all familiar to us. Let them remark if they score the same thin I’m telling everyone in Nigeria, including the 20 students. Please, Sir, don’t take me to court; let me serve two years in prison,” he urged, adding that the Registrar should retire if he was proven correct.

Shodunke criticised the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for issuing contradictory results and modifying the Literature in English course so late.
